1. Backside First: The Secret to Mark-Free Painting

Begin by coating the backside, leaving the sides unpainted. Spray a thin coat as if it was being painted vertically to avoid drips. Our system’s design means if there’s any contact, it’s on the least visible edge (the interior back side). The aluminum rods are shaped at an angle to ensure the door has minimal contact, eliminating concerns about marks during the turn-over for front side painting.

Nothing is completely perfect when refinishing cabinet doors. Unless of course, you have a professional automated machine that can spray the doors and an oven that can dry the finish. Spraying vertically with coat hangers and little tea cup hooks drilled into the doors is one way. Spraying one side, let dry overnight, and spraying the other side is another method. Along with variations of both methods. With Door Rack Painter, the grippers will leave a minute mark, if any. The aluminum rods will leave a very faint mark on the backsides. Spray the backside first, flip, and spray the front last. The marks left by the aluminum rods will be faint and can be touched up with an artist’s brush. The touch-ups are invisible. Cleaning the aluminum rods periodically will keep debris from falling onto the freshly painted doors. Is the system foolproof? No. Is the system 99% accurate? Yes. Does the system save you time? When doing both sides in a day, yes. Lots of time. We studied these racks for several months before ordering them, having tried all of the other systems. A system that just about replicates a factory finish when storing the wet doors to dry. Our largest kitchen consisted of over 250 doors and drawer faces.
